Copenhagen: Day One

With only two days to combine exploring this wonderful city with catching up with my best friend, I was determined to make the most of it and make the most of it I did!

After eating ice cream on Nyhavn, possibly Copenhagen's most famous street seen on postcard after postcard, we took to the canals to sail past the pretty architecture. Actually let's go back to the ice cream for a bit: one scoop with daim pieces, one scoop with oreos, and melted marshmellow on the top. I'm drooling just thinking about it! Nyhavn was definitely a favourite of mine too, albeit stuffed to the brim with tourists. They all seemed to congregate on the bright side of the street, not realising that the view was better across the water. I'm not complaining though, it left more room for me to languish in the sun with the adored ice cream.

Our principle mode of transport was the ubiquitous bicycle. Although I'm not usually a cyclist, my thighs just don't seem to work that way, I did enjoy our jaunts around the city. Copenhagen is absolutely made for bikes – being flat and covered in bike lanes – which helped wobbly little me as I staggered around on two wheels. I felt cool though, even though I can pretty much guarantee I didn't look it, and we whizzed from place to place.

Finally the night ended with a spell at the Kinfolk launch party. If you don't know the publication, it is a beautiful lifestyle magazine and the latest issue is all about travel. I flicked through the pages, inspired for adventures anew.

I'm adding the finishing touches to my vlog, and I can't wait for you to see it. It's five minutes of fun, freedom and much of what the Danish capital has to offer. Why not subscribe on Youtube so that you don't miss it? You'll be sure to want to see the moment when I freak out at Tivoli gardens...
